Add accounts from LinkedIn or Crunchbase
When you do not have a list to upload, you can build one inside the workspace by searching company data sourced from LinkedIn and Crunchbase. You set filters such as industry, country, size, and keywords, see how many companies match, then pull a batch straight into your Accounts. This is the alternative to importing a spreadsheet when you are starting a new territory or topping up an existing list.
This action is part of the Accounts page. If you have read-only access you will not see the Add New button, so you cannot start a search. See Roles and access for what each access level can do.
- Open the Accounts page.
- Click Add New in the top right, then choose LinkedIn/Crunchbase from the menu. A window titled Explore companies opens.
- The window has two steps, shown at the top: Select filters and Confirm request. You start on Select filters.
- Build your search. Each row is one filter: pick a field from the Select filter dropdown, then enter or choose its value. Available fields include Name, Website, Exact Website, Size, Industry, Country, Location, Keywords, Tech Stack, Has Funding Rounds, and Funding Last Round Type. Numeric and date ranges come as a pair of bounds you set separately, for example Employees Count Greater Than and Employees Count Lower Than, Founded Year Greater Than and Founded Year Lower Than, and the same Greater Than / Lower Than pattern for Created At, Last Updated, and Funding Last Round Date. The value control changes to match the field: a text box for names, websites, and the numeric bounds, a dropdown for Size, Funding Last Round Type, or Has Funding Rounds (which is Yes or No), a multi-select for Industry and Country, and a date picker for the date fields. Keywords and Tech Stack let you type your own values and add them.
- To narrow the search further, click Add filter to add another row. Each field can be used once, and you can remove a row with the trash icon next to it. The footer reminds you of the limit you can collect in one request.
- Click Continue. The workspace checks your filters and moves to Confirm request.
- On Confirm request you see how many data records were found for your filters. If the count is higher than the per-request limit, narrow your filters or plan to collect the rest in a later request.
- Set the import options for the companies you are about to bring in:
- Tags - add one or more tags so you can find this batch later. You can pick existing tags or type new ones.
- Workflow - choose which agent workflow runs on the imported accounts. A default account workflow is preselected if one is set. See Run a workflow for what workflows do.
- Add to Do Not Touch (DNT) - turn this on to mark these accounts as ones you do not want to work right now, so they can be filtered out of your actions. See Do Not Touch.
- If an account already exists - choose how to handle companies in this batch that match an account you already have: Skip it leaves the existing account untouched, Update existing account information refreshes it with the incoming data, or Create a new duplicate account adds a separate record. Skip is selected by default.
- Override existing account owners - turn this on to reassign the owner of any account that already exists to the owner in this batch (or to you if none is listed). Leave it off to keep current owners.
- Click Get data to confirm. The window closes and the request starts processing in the background.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Collecting the data and importing the accounts runs as a background job, so you do not have to wait with the window open. You can watch progress under the LinkedIn/Crunchbase company data exports tab in the Feed, where each request shows a Status of In queue, In progress…, Completed, or Error, along with its Record count and the Date created. The list refreshes on its own.
When the request reaches Completed, the matched companies are imported into your Accounts with the tags, workflow, Do Not Touch setting, and owner rule you chose. The new accounts appear on the Accounts page, and the workflow you selected runs on them so research and qualification begin without another step. If a request ends in Error, none of its companies are imported - adjust your filters and run it again.
To pull more companies with the same filters later, open the LinkedIn/Crunchbase company data exports tab and start a new request from a past one using the copy action on that row.
